EMOC

After three years of work the EMOC project partners present the standards and procedures for a „European certificate of competence for machine operators“. This certificate is the first instrument that offers machine operators independent recognition of their skills and abilities acquired in professional practice.

EMOC is a certificate of competence that aims at meeting the legal requirements at EU level as well as the criteria for forest and company certifications, and provides an incentive for education and training in forestry companies.

The project results thus provide contractors and clients with an instrument to prove that operators are basically competent to work with and operate machines.

EMOC offers machine operators an acknowledgement of their skills which is accredited by independent bodies.
The project results provide an instrument for entrepreneurs and their clients for proving that operators of machines are skilled to carry out specific tasks. EMOC offers evidence of competences which meet the legal requirements and the criteria of forest and contractor certification.
EMOC fosters education and further education in forest enterprises.

EMOC does not replace basic vocational education which ideally provides the competences to fulfil the complex tasks in operating modern forest machines. In fact, it is a complementary instrument for decision support, when training certificates are not at hand or the individual competence standard is inexplicit.

EMOC documents

The EMOC project results are compiled in the EMOC handbook which is available in five languages. This is the pilot version of the EMOC standards and procedures which is ready for review and comments and will become fully applicable after endorsement by the EFESC General Assembly in Spring 2023.
